Sodapop and Chips

I can't wait to play the show today
I can't wait to play the show
Yeah we probably drove all day
To the city where you live
And we'd like to get to know your local soda pop and chips
And we hardly know a soul
In this new city and so
Could we sleep upon your couch or floor?
It's only till tomorrow

A Song For You
03:33

Some days stress you out and I can't always be there
But I want you to think about me and know that I still care
So I sat down with my guitar and I played the only chords I know
So you can sing along any time you feel alone
Here's a song for you
A song just for you
To help you find your way back to
Me and you
A song just for you
No one can play these chords, no one can play in this key
It's all yours and I'll play it with you if you need some accompany
Here's a song for you, a song just for you
We can play it if you want to
Me and you
A song just for you
And one day if you decide you need someone else in your life
I won't hold you back but I can't say that I won't try
But if you leave me all alone, a goodbye pen to a note
You can remember me with this little tune I wrote
Here's a song for you
A song just for you
No matter what we're going through
Me and you
A song just for you

Cold Hands

Chicago, I hadn't seen you since you left for Chicago
Now you're a New York City baby
You're dropping names you new would sway me
It's hard now, since you last saw me yeah life's hard now
I'm just a wreck but then you knew that
You just neglected to acknowledge
But now you're here and so am I
And I'm not leaving with some other guy
What's you're number? I wanna see you before your flight
Cold hands
You read the lines in my cold hands
Did they tell you I was worth it or nothing at all?
Was it just a stupid trick to try to get me to fall
Were you waiting by your land line for me to call
Or just forget it all?
Meet me, if you're not busy baby meet me
At that cafe on University
And we'll play catch up, it'll be sweet
I'll pry, I wanna know you more so I'll pry
I'm trying to find a reason not to
Not to get involved with you
Cold hands
You read the lines in my cold hands
Did they tell you I was worth it or nothing at all?
Was it just a stupid trick to try to get me to fall
Were you waiting by your land line for me to call
Or just forget it all?
You got strange, I gotta tell you man you got strange
You went from open to aggressive
And I'd just hoped you'd get the message
I tried to let it fizzle, honey I tried
Knocked on my door I said, "I'm with him"
And you said nothing
Cold hands
You read the lines in my cold hands
Did they tell you I was worth it or nothing at all?
Was it just a stupid trick to try to get me to fall
Were you waiting by your land line for me to call
Or just forget it all?
And I forgot you even kissed me
Until I wrote this song

Tens of Faces
02:16
|
|||
I wanna sing a serious song
Because I definitely know how to do that
I want the coolest kids to think that I'm cool
Because there's no point in being better than that
So let's go play a show
We can show them the songs we know
And maybe get laughed at
Or the crowd will talk back
We'll go home and be alone
No more nights out on the road
Well I don't want that
No I'd be so sad
Don't think I could handle that
So I'll just go on
Singing some serious song
I've seen tens of faces and I've underwhelmed them all
No way I'll grow up to be a rockstar
But I don't think that I will grow up at all
Don't want to be disappointed by what dreams really are
So let's go play a show
We can show them the songs we know
And maybe get laughed at
Or the crowd will talk back
We'll go home and be alone
No more nights out on the road
Well I don't want that
Yeah I'd be so sad
Don't think I could handle that
So I'll just go on
Singing some serious song
Can't you see I don't know what I'm doing?
So here it is, my serious song
Hey in the back, why are you smiling?
Well I hope that you think that I'm cool
Why else would I be here yelling at you?

Soothsayer
06:35
|
|||
The curtain opened to start
I got caught up on my entrance
Little John pulled me out of the ribcage
My mother was using to keep her alive and bring mine
I came to be in the sun
Playing outside with the sticks and mud
Trying to save every poor baby bird
Abandoned and alone till they took their last breath in my palm
I'd drop the bird and watch it fall
Its fragile body still and cold
And feel the fear replace my joy
How could a young thing so soft and new return to lifelessness so soon so
Soothsayer you can't soothe me with what you find
I'd rather see my own future in time
No I don't want to know how I am gonna die
No I don't want to die
And when my teacher told to me
One day the whole of humanity
Would have to relocate to a neighboring planet
I panicked, life wasn't romantic on mars
It was the first time that I felt
The heavy load of mortality
Brushing its elbows against me
Eternity an old friend that I couldn't quite recognize at the start
And I screamed in the night
My heart raced like a fire
Was growing behind
Swiftly out of control, I didn't want to grow old
Soothsayer you can't soothe me with what you find
I'd rather see my own future in time
No I don't want to know how I am gonna die
No I don't want to die
Don't make me gaze into that witch's eye
I don't want to know how I am gonna die
I don't wanna die
And here I am decades passed
The last few years have flown by so fast
I've seen a country or seven it's heaven
To take life by the horns when the devil inside you says stop
But it's till in my thoughts
I see my body from the outside a lot
Betrayed by my brain all that I can survey is my time
Have I misused the moment and how many more have I got?
So please pour me a drink
When I'm not feeling much
How I'd rather feel something divine
Than think about nature's design
Soothsayer you can't soothe me with what you find
I'd rather see my own future in time
No I don't want to know how I am gonna die
No I don't want to die
